Client Success Story - Occidental College
Occidental College is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the West. Founded in 1887, the college has been at its present location in the northeastern Los Angeles community of Eagle Rock since 1914. Occidental is consistently ranked in the top tier of nationally recognized selective liberal arts colleges. The curriculum consists of majors in thirty-one departments, interdisciplinary majors in ten areas, and combined-plan programs in liberal arts and engineering with Columbia University and Caltech.
Occidental Campus Card System
Occidental made the decision to implement the Odyssey PCS™ card system on its campus to improve overall customer service and to allow for better reporting. With a plan to have the system pay for itself in less than seven years and CBORD® staff ready to install, Occidental was on its way to an easier, more convenient way of life. Service
At a nationally recognized institution such as Occidental, students expect a high level of service. They don't have the time to wait in line, and they require options and flexibility. Occidental, in turn, expects service and flexibility from the company and products it uses to support its business operations. It's one of the reasons that Occidental chose CBORD. “We've been very pleased with our choice of Odyssey PCS. From the sales process through implementation and ongoing support, CBORD has been an excellent company to work with,” stated Kyle Hyde, Assistant Director, Campus Dining.
Reporting
Occidental now has over 2,000 Odyssey PCS campus card system users across its campus. All transactions occur online and in real time through the Odyssey PCS system. Campus Dining has a record of each transaction, the location where the purchase occurred, and the type of tender used (meals, Flex, or TigerPlus for faculty and staff). Odyssey PCS and the MICROS® 3700 software provide management reports on traffic flow of customers, purchases made, product counts, etc.
Odyssey PCS Success
Occidental College's experience since installing Odyssey PCS in July 2003 has been very positive. “CBORD's service, support, and performance exceed our expectations, all traits that were missing with our prior system,” stated Hyde.
CBORD Configuration
Occidental's Odyssey PCS installation includes MICROS 3700 point-of-sale (POS) terminals in the Marketplace and the Tiger Cooler, a Nebraska Books POS interface, several administrative workstations for reporting, and NetLyrics for its takeout pizza operation and various off-campus functions.
